Recently I had early dinner here and chose the daily special of chicken. It comes with soup or salad (either is very good) The chicken has stuffing, potato, and veggies. There is also toasted bread. I am not sure if the special included dessert, but I too full for that. My leftovers were taken home for another meal heated in my microwave. The cost was reasonable too. Servers are always friendly and aim to please.

Huge portion sizes, tasty food! The servers were very friendly, and our food didn't take long to arrive. This place is open everyday, including New Year's Eve when we went. It was truly a great diner experience!

We decided to have the gathering at Rudford's with a fantastic group of eight new friends for a delightful Turkey Day celebration. We ended up splitting into two tables of four, and my table was filled with some fascinating folks who once called Los Angeles home. As they reminisced about their time in the City of Angels, I found myself captivated, like a bystander in the midst of their lively tales. They shared wild stories from their youth, including some hilarious escapades on film sets, as two of them had worked in the industry. One of my tablemates was a bit shy about singing, and I couldn't resist teasing him to showcase his talent. His face turned a delightful shade of red, leaving us all in stitches. Rudford's is truly a special place where you can relax, enjoy delicious food, and forge new friendships, all while soaking in the charm of nostalgia. I left with a full belly and a heart warmed by the connections made. Can't wait for our next get-together!

I have been coming here on and off for decades. We had THE WORST experience EVER last night! Edited: the owner contacted me and made things better. I will continue to support Rudford's for many more decades!

Brought my boyfriend here not too long ago since I told him this is my absolute favorite San Diego diner & love that it's open 24/7!! Typically, I usually order their French Toast, Fish & Chips, or their French Dip Roast Beef sandwich which is served on a French roll w/ a side of au jus. Their milkshakes are so tasty and they even give you the remainder of the milkshake in a metal container. If you're not craving milkshakes, they also serve banana split, sundaes, custard, banana pudding, and an assortment of pies! (apple , blueberry cherry lemon meringue, peach , or pecan pie . I describe Rudford's as a friendly & fun environment which is perfect for families or for date night!!

**DISCLAIMER** The review is based on the banana milkshake alone. Rudford's is a typical 24 hour diner, with a huge roster of hearty meals, great staff, and a laid back retro vibe. The omelette I had was alright (rated 3/5) however, what sets this place apart from the rest are their banana milkshakes. Hands down the best banana milkshakes I've had in my life; they use the actual fruit too. The portions for the milkshake is so huge and generous, they give the remainder in a second cup which is enough to satisfy two very hungry adults. Honestly, I've debated driving over an hour (more than once) to order just the milkshake and nothing else. If you're ever craving a banana milkshake, this is the place I would recommend!

Late night dining can be sketchy. We arrived around 10:15p after a long day if work on a Sunday night. Our party of 4 waited 15mins to be seated, as the place was packed with Southwestern College Theatre Students after their show. This place is a San Diego legendary experience. We all have stories of being here in our younger college and early professional years. We decided to bring our teen and young adult kids here since we were in the area, for late night dining. Staff has changed significantly. They are high energy, and working at a fast pace. Food was delicious and spot on for the time of night. Food was good quality and hearty portions. Shakes and Malts are PERFECT HERE!

I don't come here nearly enough. It's 3:34 a.m., and it's very interesting, nice folks dine here at this time of day. It's more like a Pot Roast Dip than French. (See Photo) No extra charge 4 half fries/half onion rings. They are easy on the wallet, and they offer an extremely diversified & variety of options. There is also great parking in the back. There is, however; a long wait to get a table for two or more. This is a Sunday morning rush hour. You MUST WAIT for a seat.
